A storm will bring widespread rain and mountain snow to New Mexico starting this weekend. Colder air will stick around through the middle of next week. A warmer and windier day across New Mexico Friday.

Southern California will have a respite from hot, dry weather this weekend as colder temperatures sweep in — bringing with them the possibility of scattered rain showers and snow in the mountains.

A maritime polar air mass is blowing down from the north, bringing cold temperatures and a chance of light rain and snow in some parts of Southern California over the weekend. After the weekend, the Santa Ana winds are expected to return starting Tuesday.

For the third time this month, a little rain fell in the District, barely enough on Friday morning to measure, but in an area that has been confronting dryness and drought, every little moist amount probably helps. The official measurement came to 0.03 inches. So meager an amount could fall every day for a month and would not add up to an inch.
