Police say that the man drover through the fence of a home at around 6 p.m. on Friday. He was pronounced dead after being arrested and taken to a nearby hospital, they said.

A man who crashed his car into a backyard and was handcuffed died while in police custody, officials say. According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 5300 block of Cerritos Avenue on reports of a crash into the fence of a home just before 6 p.

Police said they did not use any force to arrest the man, but because he was handcuffed, they launched an in-custody death investigation.
