Impossible movies were relatively standalone affairs. For the first five entries, each film got a new director. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) would always be the protagonist, but he’d typically get a new crew of Impossible Mission Force (IMF) agents as his allies with each feature.

Paramount dropped the teaser trailer this morning, which ends with the title reveal. The clip shows a series that has become synonymous with the long-running franchise: Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt continent-hopping, fighting off enemies and a classic running scene. The short clip is just over 2 minutes.

“Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” will be released in theaters on May 23, 2025. As the teaser trailer, well, teases, “the fate of every living soul on Earth is [Hunt’s] responsibility.” The synopsis for “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” is about as basic as it gets: “Our lives are the sum of our choices.”

The Final Reckoning, and it sounds like Tom Cruise's stunts are going to be bigger than ever. All signs point to the film potentially being the last in the movie, so it makes sense that the franchise might be going out with a bang.
