Providence Place could be losing one of its anchor tenants as Macy's looks to sell its location in the mall, which just went into receivership.

The Boston Globe reported that the Providence Place Mall Macy’s store had been listed for sale. The company is striving to “create a more modern Macy’s, Inc,” according to the statement, with approximately 150 locations slated to be closed while 350 “go-forward fleet” locations receiving further investments.

Providence Place Mall’s Macy’s store is up for sale while the chain evaluates the potential real estate value and the potential of future sales growth.

However, the mall's court-appointed receivers could not "definitively confirm [the store's] long-term presence," especially given recent announcements from Macy's corporate.
